Decoding His Body Language: 13 Signs He's Into You

Men are curious creatures. They say one thing and mean another. They claim to be honest, open and chill, but most of the time, they're totally unreadable. What's a girl to do? As the illustrious and wise Shakira once said, hips don't lie, dammit. Men might be able to construct a thin veil of mystery when it comes to their speech and personality, but their bodies always tell the truth. In the interest of stripping away their wily guiles, here's a guide to decoding male body language for a more truthful look at how men really feel.

1. His Pupils Widen When He Looks At You

Studies show that when the brain processes signals of attraction, your pupils widen. If his pupils get bigger when he's looking at you, there's a good chance he's interested.

2. His Shoulders Face You

Psychologists say that a man's shoulders always point towards the person they're most interested in. If you're standing in the same room as him and notice that his body is continuously pointed towards you, you can be sure he feels a good deal of attraction.

3. He Touches Your Waist

This might seem obvious, but it's a sure sign that he feels close to you and even protective of you. If you're in his way and he puts a hand on your waist to guide you to the side, it's probably a natural reflex on his part due to the fact that he feels comfortable around you.

4. He Puts His Hand On Your Knee

Not in a creepy way, okay? Think natural, caring, friendly. Even if it comes off as casual, a hand on your knee means he's testing the waters both intimately and sexually. He wants to know how you react to his touch (and obviously, he wants to touch you).

5. He Swallows A Lot

When you like someone, your mouth generates two times the normal amount of saliva when you're around them. (Thank you Mother Nature for yet another humiliating gift). Thus, if a guy likes you, you might see him swallowing frequently enough for you to notice it.

6. He Looks At Your Mouth

When you want to kiss someone, you instinctually look at their mouth every three to five seconds. If you see his eyes drifting towards the bottom of your face (and not just to your cleavage), he wants the V.

7. He Touches His Neck

Girls tend to play with their hair and touch their nose or mouth when they're around someone they like. The guy equivalent is the neck grab. If you see him putting his arm behind his head and touching his neck repeatedly, he's a little nervous and he's definitely into you.

8. He Gestures A Lot

When you're talking to someone you're attracted to, you tend to motion with your hands three times more than you normally would. This is a way to show them that you're interested in the conversation

9. He Holds Your Gaze

When you're talking to someone who you're not attracted to, you break eye contact every three to four seconds. When you are attracted to someone, you hold their gaze for four times longer. If he's staring and staring good, he's totally into you.

10. He Leans In When You're Talking

When you're attracted to someone, you tend to be quite literally drawn in. Like the shoulder-pointing, leaning in indicates that he's super interested not only in what you're saying but in you.

11. He Bites His Lip

The lip bite means he wants you. When you're sexually attracted to someone, you start doing a lot of weird stuff with your mouth, i.e. salivating, smiling, and biting the shit out of your lower lip.

12. He Shows His Teeth When He Smiles

Studies show that men tend to stop smiling with their teeth at the age of five. If you get him to flash his pearly whites, it means his smile is totally genuine...and you're his reason for breaking his stone-faced manly routine.

13. His Feet Point Towards You

Scientists have confirmed that people tend to point their feet in the direction that they want to go, even if they're sitting down or stationary. If you see his feet pointed towards you when you're speaking or even if you're at opposite corners of the room, not only are you on his mind, you're what he really wants.
