Translating Guy Speak: How To Tell If He's Into You

He assumes you're spending the weekend together. He introduces you to his friends. He no longer wears his ironic t-shirts that read something like..."If found please return to bar stool" or "I put the STD in STUD, now all I need is U". He calls when you least expect it. The former are all some of the gems that you presume to be true when telling if a guy is into you, but the reality is that you may never know and that we're just wired differently than women, it's not a flaw, it's just the way we are. Studies show that men use language to establish difference, to separate and gain independence (exactly the opposite of women, who talk to connect). But here are the ways to translate what the hell he's on about here is translating guy speak: how to tell if he's into you.

When you are dating

If he says: So maybe we could go for a walk or a coffee?

He actually means: I think you're really hot and want to ask you out, but I'm of a nervous disposition and even asking you just that has mean I'm in need of a shower after sweating my body's content of water.

If he says: You're a really nice person

He actually means: See ya!

If he says: Let's be friends He actually means: You're not my type, but could you set me up with your hot friend? If he says: We're seeing each other He actually means: Your his first choice but there may be someone else involved.

When he wants sex

If he says: This is our fourth date, isn't it?

He actually means: I WANT SEX

He says in the middle of cuming: I love you He actually means: I love that incredible thing you are doing with your finger/tongue/body right now...DON'T STOP If he says: I've been thinking about you He actually means: When was the last time we had sex again, I've been having dirty thoughts? If he says: I don't want anything serious He actually means: I just want a ride If he says: How many guys have you been with? He actually means: I'm the best, right?

When he's serious about the two of you

He says (in the middle of a date): Anything that relates to the two of you together in the future He actually means: I think I am falling in love but if I'm a man and therefore cannot bring myself to say the word because my mates will find out and slag me. If he: Introduces you as his girlfriend He actually means: He no longer introduces you as his "friend" and he more than likely wants you to meet his friends, family etc...bottom line...you're in there sister! If he says: Nothing's wrong. I'm fine He actually means: There is something wrong but I'm with you, it's my comfort time, I've just come home from work after a hectic day and listened to you talk about everyone you know and their problems, he just wants to chill with you, try have a laugh, dinner and a glass of wine. You're his escape, don't take it personally. If he says: Maybe we need to slow down He actually means: Maybe you need to slow down If he says: I love you He actually means: You make me incredibly happy whenever we are together. I think you may be The One. If YOU’D like to be part of the CT team and write for the biggest student website in the country, then email us! [email protected]
