Summer absolutely wins best time of the year to read. You have time to kill in airports while traveling, you want to pass time while you're working on your tan at the beach, and you finally aren't too burnt out from school work to pick up a book at night. If you aren't sure what's hot this summer, check out this list:

 1. Me Before You - Jojo Moyes

This is the movie of the summer and let's face it, the book is always better. So even if your friends have already seen the movie or are going on Friday, opt to stay home with a glass of wine and binge-read the book first.

2. Magic - Danielle Steel

At a secret, romantic annual dinner in Paris, three couples attend, and the novel follows them through the year as they experience triumphs and tumultuous relationships and marriages.

A teenager in the end of the 1960's gets caught up in following a group of older, cooler kids, and finds herself in a cult. It's a darker twist on your coming of age story.

4. The Girl On The Train - Paula Hawkins

A girl's morning routine on the train involves the same familiar sights from out her window, until one day she sees something else. She alerts the police. A fast-paced thriller soon to become a movie.

5. Alexander Hamilton - Ron Chernow

This autobiography has of course been on the bestseller list because Hamilton on Broadway is the hottest thing to have been seen on stage. If you've seen the play, want to see the play, or would like some random information about a figure in U.S. history, here's your novel.

6. When Breath Becomes Air - Paul Kalanithi

Another nonfiction book, Paul Kalanithi was a neurosurgeon when, at 36, he learned he had Stage IV cancer. This book is a real conversation on life and death if you're ready for something meatier on the beach.

7. The Assistants - Camille Perri

For every student out there with or looking forward to (ha) student loan debt, in The Assistants, an assistant realizes a mistake that could pay off her debt since her shitty job isn't helping, and she benevolently starts helping others with the (stolen) money as well.

8. Modern Lovers - Emma Straub

Three friends grow older, finding their sexualities, dreams, and identities along the way, and then watch as all of their children entangle together, shaping each other in much the same way.

9. Black-Eyed Susans - Julia Heaberlin

A woman is found among a field of flowers...and dead bodies. Yet she remains alive. Her testimony gets a man convicted but years later she senses the wrong man is behind bars. Good if you're looking for a page-turner and thriller.

10. The Hopefuls - Jennifer Close

This is a story of a young wife who goes to D.C. with her husband so he might pursue politics. Of course, if you're interested in the hot mess actually going on in D.C., this might pique your interest.

Aaaand a second D.C. novel because this summer sees Trump facing off against Clinton and they won't let you forget it. A young, poor girl follows a rich politician to D.C., but doesn't know what to do when she realizes morality and politics don't go hand in hand.

12. All Is Not Forgotten - Wendy Walker

A girl is attacked at a party and given a drug to forget the assault, but the assault and her memory loss only torment her more. This is thought-provoking considering the dialogue on rape and sexual assault we are forced to have all too often.

13. Sweetbitter - Stephanie Danler

Small town girl moves to NYC where she works at a high-class restaurant. As she's coming of age in the big apple, she gets caught up in all too many temptations and has to figure out which parts of the illusion of New York are real.

14. Losing It - Emma Rathbone

At 26, a woman finds herself still a virgin and is desperate to change that so she decides, interestingly enough, to spend a summer with her eccentric aunt to do the deed.
