6 Times John Oliver Tore Trump To Shreds And Made Us All Smile

Last Week Tonight's John Oliver has quickly risen though the ranks of talk show hosts thanks to his quick wit, razor sharp political satire, and nervous meerkat-like charm.
Throughout the American presidential race, Oliver has repeatedly taken on his nemesis; ham-faced billionaire, Donald Trump.
As Trump clambered up the polls and became a real contender for the Oval Office you could see Oliver's demeanour change from amused detachment to bemused revulsion.
February: ‘Trump’
'Our main story tonight, and I cannot believe that I am saying this; is Donald Trump. I say that knowing that every time his name is said out loud, he has an earth shattering orgasm.'
Back in February Oliver took on Trump for the first time, after attempting to ignore the loud-mouth mogul for several months.
He recognised that Trumps name, despite sounding like a scatalogical euphemism from the 1950's, has power, and the only way to challenge that power was to 'Make Donald Drumpf Again'.
March: ‘I’m gonna build a Wall’
'So he's saying he could build a wall at 40% of what it would cost others. Which, I would say is an insane magic trick if I thought his tiny fingers could wrap all the way around a magic wand'
John took a look at the realities of building a thousand-mile monument to xenophobia, and found that it could cost a staggering $25bn.
July: The Republican National Convention
'The Republican National convention in Cleveland, the most apocalyptic thing ever to happen to that city and bear in mind, there river has repeatedly caught fire.'
Trump rapidly went from ‘funny novelty candidate’ to ‘harbinger of the end times’ as he finally received the Republican presidential nomination.
August: Obama is the founder of ISIS
'You know that riddle where there are two people, one of them is lying and one is always telling the truth? Donald Trump is both of those at once!'
Trump went from insisting that Obama and Hillary Clinton were literally co-founders of ISIS to saying that he was being sarcastic and then changing tack yet again and saying he was, in fact, serious.

September: (More) Scandal
'If the financial actions of the Clinton foundation annoy you, let me introduce you to the Trump foundation, and i'm not talking the pounds and pounds of foundation that trump wears on his face.'
Trump in a typically classy move, mounted a smear campaign on Hillary Clinton. He criticised her charitable organisation, the Clinton foundation.
Oliver showed us that just as people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones, tangerine-skinned megalomaniacs shouldn't throw shade.
October: Trump finally out-Trumps himself
'Let us dive in, straight away with the 2016 election, or better known as; Oh I get it: we all died and this is hell and satan has cursed us to live out this nightmare for all eternity"
A leaked tape revealed Trump's 'Locker room talk' (that's open mysoginy to you and I) torpedoing his campaign.
John dissects Trump's first ever attempt at an apology. It doesn't go well.
