8 Reasons We'll Be Watching The New OITNB Season

For anyone who doesn't know a thing about Orange Is The New Black (OITNB), where have you been the past two years?! Season three kicks off tomorrow on Netflix and the world is waiting eagerly for its release, so you have a lot of catching up to do tonight. Here are just a few of the reasons we'll definitely be staying in tomorrow night with a bowl of popcorn and our Netflix subscription...
1) It's all about the women.
Yes, OITNB is a show about women, starring women. There are a few male appearances here and there, but what we love most about the show is its sense of girl power. Fair enough, the show may be set in Litchfield Prison and all the women may be convicted criminals but there are still some strong-as-fuck females proving that even in a prison, they run that bitch.
2) It's fucking hilarious.
All credit to the scriptwriters for making OITNB one of the funniest TV series to grace the globe in years. We'd put it up there with the likes of Desperate Housewives, How I Met Your Mother and even (wait for it...) Friends. Yes, we made that comparison. From the sarcasm to the witty one-liners, we can't get enough of those Litchfield girls.
3) Piper and Alex.
If you haven't seen the show before, Piper and Alex are the leading power couple in the prison. Without giving too much away, they bicker and argue, and can go from trapping each other in washing machines one day to having steamy sex in a church the next. Yes, we said church.
4) There's no beating around the bush.
Pun intended. Although the show is full of lesbian action, that doesn't mean there aren't any crude, lesbian jokes along the way. In fact, there are plenty of hilarious/borderline homophobic remarks throughout the show but they're just so brilliant that you can't be offended.
5) Crazy Eyes is off her fucking face.
There are no words to describe her. You'll just have to watch the show to see what we mean.
6) It's not all shits and giggles.
One of the best things about OITNB is the balance it has between fall-off-your-bed funny and cry-yourself-to-sleep sad. Even though we spend the majority of the show wetting ourselves at Taystee's attitude or anything Morello says, we also get dem feels when shit gets serious in Litchfield.
7) The plot twists are of epic proportion.
You're probably thinking 'How can there be many plot twists when the show is set in a prison?' Well, think again. OITNB has layers upon layers of twists and turns to keep the viewer clinging on and dying for the next episode to start straight away. Good thing it's on Netflix, eh?
8) It's not ending anytime soon.
OITNB creator and mastermind, Jenji Kohan, has promised fans that the show is here for the long haul. It may be on season three now, but Kohan is positive the show will be around as long as Netflix will have them. Sweet!
