Derry Girl Nicola Coughlan Has The Perfect Response To Tabloid Comment

This year's TV Bafta award took place in London last night. Like any awards ceremony, celebrities were out in full glamour for the event. Amongst the celebrity guest list was the cast of Derry Girls who were nominated in the best-scripted comedy category. To paraphrase Derry Girls' star Nicola Coughlan, they might not have taken home the award, which went to Sky Atlantic’s Sally4ever, but they did look like a pack of rides on the red carpet.

Nicola Coughlan, who plays Claire has a place in our hearts, not just for her portrayal of Claire the show's only gay character but also for her activity on social media. The Galway native is not afraid to speak her mind on issues she feels passionate about.

The UK tabloid The Daily Mirror wrote an article on the fashion from the red carpet, within the article they state:

The Derry Girls have certainly made an impression on the red carpet, but it may have not been the one that wanted [sic]. Nicola Coughlan brought a welcome dash of colour to proceedings but her plain pink outfit was not the most flattering.

A Twitter user called out the 'vile' paper for 'contributing to the persistent degradation of women' and Nicola had the perfect response, 'I mean incorrect @DailyMirror I look smokin, sorry about it'.

Fans on Twitter were quick to get behind the actress and show their support.

We agree, Nicola you look smokin!
