This Dublin Doctor's Unexpected Performance On Michael McIntyre's TV Show Is Sublime

I have to admit I've never watched an episode of Michael McIntyre's Big Show but after this 'Unexpected Star' segment I might just find myself tuning in to the next installment on Christmas Eve.

The show features a variety of different parts (hence the term 'Variety Show') but a Dublin doctor's performance in this week's 'Unexpected Star' has really captured the hearts of everyone. Basically the premise of the section is that someone who is really musically talented is nominated - without their knowledge - by a loved one to close out the show with a big performance. Enter Dr Ciara - from Dublin but living in Belfast - who was nominated by her boyfriend, Simon.

First of all, the set-up is amazing. She travels to London with her boo, thinking they're staying in a hotel for the night. However, it's all a complete set-up and a curtain in their hotel room opens up to the West End theatre McIntyre is doing his live show from. Everyone in the 'hotel' is an actor and will do anything McIntyre tells them, so even before the big reveal, this is a great watch.

After Ciara finds out what's happening and eventually pulls herself together, she then reemerges to sing On My Own from Les Mis and blew the socks off the whole theatre.

Amazing stuff and real feel-good moment for Christmas week!
