The Michael Jackson 'Leaving Neverland' Documentary Airs Tonight On Channel 4
Leaving Neverland is airing in Ireland and the UK tonight, after causing a stir in the U.S when it aired last week.
Leaving Neverland, is a two-part documentary that addresses child abuse allegations made against music icon, Michael Jackson, from two men who are now in their 30's.
Both men were very close to Jackson when they were young boys, and were involved in earlier cases against Michael Jackson, where they protected and denied any abuse in the relationships.
They two men, Wade Robson and James Safechuck were close to the superstar and stayed in his resort, Neverland, a number of times throughout their childhood, at the ages of seven and ten, during their friendship with Jackson. They are now making headlines, claiming that they did in fact suffer through terrible abuse at the hands of Michael, after Wade Robson played a key part in Michael's acquittal in 2005.
In the documentary, the men explain their relationship with the Thriller singer, and intimate details of their time together.
Michael Jackson has had a number of accusations in the past, with young boys claiming they were sexually abuse by him, but Michael was cleared of all charges, walking free until he passed away in 2009, making this year his ten year anniversary.
The Jackson family have been open about their disbelief in the accusations, saying they are positive they are not true. Michael's nephew, Taj Jackson, even did his first Irish Interview with Sean O'Rourke on RTÉ Radio One this week, protecting Michael's innocence.
He said;
“You know your family, I spent thousands of hours with my uncle Michael… I wouldn’t have flown to the UK to defend him if I thought for one instant that he was guilty.”
Radio stations around the world have stopped playing Jackson's music, including Ryan Tubridy, who said;
“If a quarter of what those say happened to them at the hands of Michael Jackson then we all have to sit down and reassess our approach to that pop star and that icon, and probably, I have to say, his back catalogue.”
The first part of the documentary will be airing on Channel 4 this evening at 9pm, with the second part to follow tomorrow evening.
