New Irish Music Alert: Lydia Ford Leaves You On “Read”

Ever get a text from your ex you just couldn’t deal with? Lydia Ford’s new single ‘Read’ deals with exactly that. A candidate for your indie pop summer mixtape, the Irish act sings about the heart-break of re-opening the wounds of a previous relationship with a simple, out of the blue text. She does so with smart playing and a vocal that reminiscent of Dolores O’Riordan, with all the jaunty intonations that that brings.

The song doesn't rest on its laurels either, finding new ways to augment itself and getting a burst of energy at the end.

The music video for 'Read' was created by a predominately female and queer cast & crew in Brooklyn, where Ford is currently based. The story follows her trying to escape the memory of an ex in a dreamy one-shot sequence, with a few twists and turns towards the end! Check out the vid-eo here.

'Read' is the single from Ford's upcoming EP, slated for release in August. You can find her on Facebook here and Twitter here.
