Great news! Scientists have backed up one of the convenient truths I like to tell myself. According to scientists who study the brain and nervous system, people don't adult until their 30s, once and for all confirming our suspicions.

You'll commonly hear the phrase, "don't adult its a trap". It's true and you should take heed.

Here's are a more accurate depiction of what is to adult:

A first it seems exciting, finally, I'm a grown up.

You soon realise with adulting comes bills to pay and responsibilities. Parents are no longer there to bail you out, much to your resentment.

You have rent to pay and bill, bills, bills which leads to poverty at the end of every month.

Eventually, dealing with responsibilities and bills drives you to the bottle.

This tweet perfectly sums up what it is to 'adult'. Delay this inevitable outcome for as long as you can.

Speaking to the BBC, Professor Peter Jones, from Cambridge University, states:

What we're really saying is that to have a definition of when you move from childhood to adulthood looks increasingly absurd. It's a much more nuanced transition that takes place over three decades.

He also adds "There isn't a childhood and then an adulthood. People are on a pathway, they're on a trajectory"

Great, there you have it, our suspicions are confirmed. "Adulting" is a complex journey that is different for everyone. Don't rush the process, simply enjoy the journey. One day you will find yourself in a job with an ever-growing inbox of unread emails.
