Rebel Wilson Is Suing The Pants Off An Aussie Mag For Defamation

Rebel Wilson is a boss: she's starred in countless Hollywood blockbusters and is an awesome role model for real women all around the world. So what happens when a Aussie gossip rag tries to make her look the opposite? They get a Rebel Wilson lawsuit on their hands.

In 2015, Australian magazine publisher Bauer Media published a story that exposed Rebel's real age and name. Instead of being a 29-year-old, Rebel was in fact 35 and born Rebel Melanie Elizabeth Bownds.

While this information is actually true, it raises the question of what business it is for the media and public to know. Shouldn't it be Rebel's choice if or when she decided to say how old she was?

It's also just a shitty thing to do considering women in Hollywood face unfair scrutiny as it is about their age. Add that to the fact Rebel isn't a size 0 and it's clear that this magazine caused some serious damage.

According to CBS News, Rebel's lawyer, Renee Enbom said during a court hearing in the Victoria Supreme Court in Melbourne on Friday that the actress would present evidence that the articles published by Bauer Media in 2015 led to her film contracts being terminated.

The lawsuit accuses Bauer of damaging Rebel's reputation, humiliating her and making her look like a liar.

Rebel is seeking unspecified damages from the publisher and is expected to give evidence when the trial begins on May 22.

When the news came out Rebel spoke on an Australian TV show about it.

"When I did go to America, I kind of just stopped saying my age...It's Hollywood, come on, people".

We hope Rebel wins hard and shows the media who's boss like she always does.
