Do Not Adjust Your Set: The Sister Sister Revival Is On

It’s been an agonising 18-year-long wait, but it looks like we might finally be getting our Sister Sister reunion.

The show was a mainstay on Nickelodeon on British and Irish tellies throughout the nineties, when it filmed well over a hundred episodes, and a deep love remains among those who grew up with the sitcom and its iconic intro.

One half of the twins, Tia Mowry, spoke to Nylon Magazine about the rumours surrounding a reunion recently.

“We’re looking, right now, for a producer and a writer, someone who can kind of be a leader of the pack in regards to running the show,” she says.

That statement confirmed what so many fans had hoped for years, that the show would make a comeback to our screens, but it’s not quite that simple. Although there is plenty of appetite from viewers to see it return, behind-the-scenes no one seems to be taking Tia up on the idea.

“I thought people would kind of be jumping on it, but it’s a lot harder than my sister and I thought it would be. Everything in my career has always been a challenge.”

The actor pointed out that plenty of other programmes have been revived of late, such as Twin Peaks and Roseanne, so why not Sister Sister?

“It’s not dead in any kind of way,” she reassures us. “We’re moving forward, we’re taking those strides. They’re slow strides, but we’re pushing as hard as we can to make people happy and make our fans happy.”

If Sister Sister does hit our screens again, we’ll be hoping the whole cast reunites, including the loveable Roger, who is looking a bit different these days.

Since the show ended in 1999, Tia and Tamera have continued acting, while the former current presents her own show on the Cooking Channel. The twins also had their own reality show, which ran from 2011 to 2013.
