Dating in Dublin Guide

Dating can be a horrible time in a relationship. A time when you have to pretend you always blow dry your hair and never listen to Disney soundtracks. However, one of the biggest problems with dating is trying to come up with the perfect date, the kind that lets your date know you’re interested in them but also gives you something to talk about before you find yourself ranking the Game of Thrones characters. With this in mind I want to suggest a few places for the perfect date with our dating in Dublin Guide.
Grand Canal Picnic and Drinks
There are several options for a Grand Canal based date. In sunny weather a picnic by the water is a lovely way to spend an afternoon. Your date is bound to find something they like at the Grand Canal Village Market which sells a variety of delicious dishes. All you have to do is bring a blanket, some wine and find a quiet location to soak in the sun. But beware of over friendly swans and fellow “picnickers” with cans of Dutch Gold.
Dinner Cruise
When the weather turns cold and you have decided that you really want to push the boat out (sorry) you could take your date on a dinner cruise. Feast on a three course meal while you travel up the canal enjoying the scenery. This creates lots of opportunities for romance and offers a variety of conversation topics. But a word of caution about choosing food on a date: Chicken wings, burgers, burritos and basically any food that makes you get so much sauce on your face and meat in your teeth that you resemble some sort of bloody carnivorous cave person, is out of the question. Those sorts of images shouldn't be seen be your companion till at least five months into the relationship when you have both shown that you are nothing like the sophisticates you were at the beginning and that really you are at your happiest when watching Honey Boo Boo in your mismatched pyjamas with an Indian takeaway.
Ghost Bus Tour
Activity dates can be a great way to get to know each other and create a shared experience you can laugh at later in the pub and what better experience to share than being terrified by tales of Dublin based horror on the Ghost Bus Tour. Highlights include Bram Stokers home, the Forty Steps and visiting a burnt-out church where body snatching was common place. All of these locations give you plenty of opportunities to fake fear and cuddle up to your date for protection.
Roller Disco
As an alternative to the Ghost Bus Tour, another altogether funkier affair is Roller Disco. It’s a great way to have fun, bond over your mutual lack of skating talent and share childhood memories. However, you do run the risk of being shown up by a ten year old. They are fearless and amazing at skating, but don’t be disheartened because you are old enough to have driven yourself and everyone knows driving trumps skating.
But the main thing to remember when organising a date is this: Don’t ever take a first date to the cinema because nothing says I’m a thirteen year old and my mom is going to pick me up at ten, than going to see The Fast and The Furious on a random Tuesday evening.
