Worst Hangover EVER! This Fella's New Year's Eve Taxi Fare Cost Him Over €1,800

Remember that time you got so drunk you had to be woken up by police cos you never paid the taxi far home? The taxi fare that cost nearly two grand?

This fella does, like it was only a few days ago. After New Year's Eve to be precise.

The Norwegian man was partying in Copenhagen when he rang in 2018. He decided he'd grab a taxi, you know to his home in Oslo, two countries away, as you do.

From Denmark, the taxi travelled through Sweden and into Norway. Google Maps tells us the journey would take about 7 hours, and the fare ended up costing 18,000 Norwegian kroner (which is over €1,800).

Refusing to pay the fare, he got into a row with the taxi driver and the police ended up getting involved. In a a series of tweets, Oslo police reported they found the man asleep in bed and once awake, he agreed to pay the fare.

And the driver who was stranded in Oslo? He was rescued by a recovery truck.

Norwegian broadcaster, NRK, said the passenger has no previous record.

We've heard of people getting taxis back to college in Dublin from a Sesh back west but this is where being a small island probably comes in handy. Probably best to book a hotel next time you go to another country for New Year's!
