Dublin's Essential Hipster Check-Ins

The Hipster is a new breed of Irishman. He see's gold in charity shops, and alternative music. The hipster gives off the appearance that he takes life as it comes, but in fact he is deeply specific in his likes and dislikes. He's a connoisseur when it comes to choosing his specific coffee, lunch and where they drink their whiskey (neat on 1 ice cube). He prowls the streets searching for places to call home. In Dublin he has found precious few places where he can do this… They are as follows.

1) Pyg

The hipster lives a life where half-price drinks on Sunday are always necessary. Pay a fiver in and everything is miraculously cheap.. If he sits outside he can eye-roll the non hip people that pass by.

2) The Bernard Shaw

The original hipster joint.. Those clever folk at BodyTonic set this place up and hipsters found a home. Go for the drinks, maybe leave the pizza made in a bus, well depending on how many drinks you've had...

3) 3FE

The hipster needs a coffee to wake him up and getting coffee gives his afternoon focus. He's a connoisseur of coffee. 3FE does exceptionally good coffee. The hipster likes this.

4) Cassidy's

The hipster likes the board game, and old-school sweets. The hipster also likes to drink. Cassidy's does it all. Cassidy's gives you Connect 4, a wham bar and a pint. The hipster is content with this.

5) Keoghs

Although not against progress, the hipster likes old-school. Keoghs is just that. Getting the snug is a win win situation.

6) Pablo Picanté

The hipster needs fuel. The hipster has been traveling a lot so the taste of Californa Burritos reminds him of the time he backpacked across the West Coast.

7) The Eager Beaver

The hipster needs clothing. Not just any old clothing. The hipster's clothes must be alternative. The Eager Beaver guarantees something obnoxious, quirky and individual.

8) Fix Up Look Smart

The hipster needs transport. This must be quirky and somehow better than your's. Get your bike make over by Fix Up Look Smart for more hipster street cred.

9) The Waldorf Barber

The hipster's hair is very important. The hipster needs a barber he can trust with his ludicrous although necessary hair styling and mustache maintenance.

10) The Workman's Club

The hipster is a working man, or at least his ancestors were. This place is called the workman's club and it makes the hipster feel immediately productive. These days working can consist of picking the perfect meme to upload to your Instagram. In social currency the perfected Instagram account is like gold.

11) Dice Bar

Smithfield was fairly undiscovered up until recently. The hipster likes to feel he's on the cusp of finding something great before anyone else. Hipsters made this place cool. It's a bit overdone but it's 'their' place.
