Why Everyone Wants To Be Irish

The Irish are admired all around the world for being a great bunch of lads, known for drinking and having a good time. There is a reason every American claims that they're half Irish. Here are the reasons why everyone wants to be Irish.
15) We always have the best craic
The Irish know how to have the craic that's for sure. No matter where we go around the world we bring our unique brand of entertainment with us. We always seem to make the most of a bad situation, like in Poland in Euro 2012 when we got destroyed but still kept singing.
14) The gift of the gab
We have a way with words that is quite unique , people from other countries see it as charming. We have unusual sayings like "I will Yea " and " Go away out of that". Foreigners sometimes don't get our sarcasm, but we think it's great craic altogether.
13) The accent
As well as our way with words, we also known for having a great accent. A few years ago the Irish was voted the sexiest accent in the world. I don't know what they were smoking, but it's no always what you say but how you say it.
12) Irish humour
We are known for having a really dry sense of humour, we're not as in your face as American humour or as common as British humour. We like to make fun of the mundane things in life. One of our best comics Tommy Tiernan has always been great at finding the funny moments in Irish life.
11) Being Neutral
Even though thousands of Irish men fought in the world wars they fought for the British Army. We don't take sides and most of our army in under peacekeeping efforts.Unlike America, we don't like meddling in other people's affairs "Sure we'll leave you to it so".
10) Nation of Storytellers
From the postman to the local barman everyone seems to have a story to tell. We're not shy when it comes to telling stories and we love to let everyone know. Back in the day there used to be someone who told stories called a Seanchaí.
9) We're a bunch of chancers
We will literally chance our arm on anything, whether it's getting into places we shouldn't be allowed or arriving at someone's gaf unannounced and asking if we can stay over. We kind of just expect things to work out.
8) We call it like it is
We don't beat around the bush on things, if we don't like something we say it, end of. We can always tell when someone is telling a lie and will always call them out on it " You did in your hat".
7) We don't take ourselves too seriously
We don't get uptight about what people think about us and we can laugh at ourselves. The Irish do so much slagging that we have to be able to laugh at ourselves, otherwise we would be constantly depressed.
6) Apparently we're lucky
We all know the old saying that Yanks always use "The luck of Irish". The shamrock and all that jazz means were lucky but the Amercians are getting it confused with the four leaf clover. Either way we're known for being lucky so we might as well embrace it.
5) GAA
To us Gaelic and Hurling is our national sports, to everyone else it's a few lads in a field with sticks bating a white tennis ball. The reaction the English had to GAA and hurling on Sky Sports shows us how much they loved it. We should embrace our crazy sports and share them with the world .
4) The session
We're great for an auld sing song in the pub and everyone has their own party piece. There is always that one person who says " Ah no sure I can't sing, let someone else go", then they end up singing a song with 24 verses in it.
3) The Irish countryside
We're often too quick to forget that we live on one of the most beautiful places on earth with rolling green fields and stone walls. Tourists marvel at our beautiful countryside...
2) We insult our best friends
" What are you talking about you feckin eejit", is our way of saying that I wasn't listening could you please tell me that again. We're constantly taking shots at each other but it's all in the name of banter.
1) "Be grand sure"
There is a bit of paradox in Irish society that on one hand we're known for worrying, but other times we couldn't give a shit how things plan out. It's all in the name of a session!
