Facebook Is Getting A Dislike Button! (Sort Of)

Following absolute YEARS of demands for a dislike button from users, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg announced yesterday that the company was working on new features for replying to posts, beyond the simple "like"

“People have asked about the ‘dislike’ button for many years, and probably hundreds of people have asked about this, and today is a special day because today is the day that I actually get to say we are working on it, and are very close to shipping a test of it,” Zuckerberg said, in a live-streamed Q&A yesterday. “Not every moment is a good moment if you share something that’s sad like a refugee crisis that touches you or a family member passes away, it may not be comfortable to ‘like’ that post…I do think it’s important to give people more options than liking it.”

Given Zuckerberg's comments, it was initially interpreted as a simple "dislike" button. On further assessment (social media arguments), it is thought that the new features will contain various options to convey feeling towards a post; possibly along the lines of the "feelings" for status updates. We don't know what this might mean for new friendships and relationship statuses, but here at College Times, we can't wait to sit back with some popcorn and watch a good 'aul Facebook drama unfold!
