How to Make Awesome iPhone Speakers

Sometimes we like to get creative here in the College Times office. Here's a quick guide on how to make some good quality iPod speakers with stuff you might find lying around your house (or the office).

A quick search on Google will bring up countless ways to make DIY speakers (or volume boosting amps) for any smartphone. From a paper cup to a glass jar, nearly all of these will give you some extra volume but only the best will do for College Times.

To boost your iPhone output by up to 15db all you need is a couple of leftover coffee cups and a cardboard toilet paper roll.

1. Cut a slot in the cardboard roll for you to place your iPhone or Android device into, with the speakers inside.

2. Cut a circular opening the diameter of the toilet paper tube into one side of both cups and then attach them to the open ends of the tube.

And that's it! The results are genuinely impressive, granted none of these compare to actual speakers you spend money on but they do offer a boost so as the bass becomes amplified and you don't get the over powering high end you do direct from your phone.
