Less Stress, More Success: Why The Leaving Cert Doesn't Matter

You're probably filled with rage just reading the title. "How dare someone tell me the Leaving Cert doesn't matter, do you have any idea how stressed I am?" But really, it won't matter. You are not just a number on a page. It's been three years since I've done the Leaving and not one employer has even glanced at my results. Take some inspiration from these well-known faces who took their failure and turned it into success.

Steve Jobs

Steve Jobs, the founder of that tiny company no one really knows, Apple, dropped out of his college course, and became a drop-in on the courses he was interested in. Later in his life he was then fired from the multi-million dollar company he himself was CEO of, only to be hired back by them once again. No college degree or Leaving Cert needed to create the iPhone, was there?

Charles Darwin

The man that created the theory of evolution by natural selection was thrown out by his Dad because he wanted him to be a doctor. GAWD, parents haven't changed much.

Lady Gaga

After being dropped from Def Jam Records in 2006, she pursued her music career endlessly and became one of the biggest selling artists in the world. Bet Def Jam are feeling sick now.

Steven Spielberg

The three-time Oscar winner was denied not once, but twice from the University of Chicago's film school. He didn't need you anyway!

Oprah Winfrey

With the net worth of over 3 Billion Dollars she was fired from the radio show she hosted because she was told she was too "emotionally involved" with the stories she reported. YOU GET SOME TEARS, YOU GET SOME TEARS AND EVERYBODY GETS SOME TEARS!

Walt Disney

The man that shaped our childhoods was fired from the newspaper he worked for because he "lacked imagination". Because clearly Disney was built on a lack of imagination. As he once said: "Laughter is timeless. Imagination has no age. And dreams are forever."

Albert Einstein

Einstein didn't speak until he was four, leading most of his teachers o believe he was crazy. That is until he whipped out the theory of relativity. BAYUM! Showed you guys.

Richard Branson

He's the fourth richest person in the UK and he has dyslexia. He didn't get good marks in school and never did well in standardised tests. He used the power of his positive personality to get him where he is today (on his own island in the Virgin Islands).

Jay-Z

No one could see Jay-Z's talent and not one record label would sign him. So what did he do? He made his own record label of course, Roc-A-Fella Records and has a net worth of over 500 Million Dollars. "Hunnid, dolla, bill, real."

Vincent Van Gogh

Van Gogh was so under appreciated in his time, he sold only one of his 900 paintings while alive. Posthumously, he became one of the most famous artists of all time and his work is now considered priceless. Oh the irony.

Stephanie Meyer

The author of the extremely successful Twilight series was rejected by 14 different publishers before the 15th picked up Twilight. What would all the tweens do if Bella and Edward hadn't been brought to life?!

Hugh Jackman

The Wolverine was fired from his job as a cashier in a newsagents after just six weeks because his boss said, "he talks to much to customers". He can talk to me all day.
