Pics: The Snow Is Here! Met Éireann Warn Of Accumulations Overnight

You have probably noticed the drop in temperatures the past few days as you embark on your day with as many layers as possible. Yesterday Met Éireann issued a yellow weather warning for the whole of Ireland for this week. This morning Met Éireann warned of a “threat of serious snow” with temperates set to drop to -3 this week. Now we’re not ones for fear mongering journalism here at the CollegeTimes but prepare for Beast from the East Mk II. And, as of this evening, snow has officially arrived.

The good people of Co. Mayo and the Wicklow Mountains witnessed the first drops of snow this morning. However other parts of the country are now starting to see accumulations.  Met Éireann forecast “significant accumulations” of snow from this evening and tonight onwards.

So far the West of the country has been the most affected but as temperatures drop overnight more places throughout the country are expected to see snow on the ground.

With the hashtag #Sneachta trending on Twitter people have been sharing their images of the snow accumulating in their areas.

Met Éireann have a yellow weather snow-ice warning in place until mid-day Saturday.

Naturally enough Twitter is now awash with a whole plethora of bread and Lidl based jokes. Feel free to peruse their wares for your choice of pithy sign off with which to end this article.
