The Things That Really Keeps Me Awake At Night..

It has been a long hard day and your bed is awaiting your return. You've been exhausted since you woke up basically and longing for this moment all day.  As you clamber in and your head hits the pillow you want to drift off into a peaceful slumber. For some random reason though as soon as the lights are off - your mind starts racing. If you're like me you stay awake contemplating the meaning of life. There are a few things that come to mind when I’m trying to sleep at night...

1. Oh god what was that noise? What if my house is like the one in paranormal activity? Are ghosts real?

2. The endless list of what ifs...

What if I had of studied more for that exam? What if I ruined my chances with that good looking lad in economics? What if I was born in a different country and went to a different school and had a completely different life?

3. What am I doing with my life?

A whole life evaluation: What am I doing? When am I doing it?  Why am I doing it?

What am I going to do for the rest of my life? What if my course doesn’t get me a job?  Do I even like me course? Do I want to do a year abroad? There’s people my age in the Olympics and I spend my days on twitter and Facebook....

4. And then that sudden burst of motivation -

I get at 3 am to clean your room, go for a jog, study for exams that are months away, go on a diet, join the gym and suddenly sort out my life.

5. The midnight snack thoughts where you're suddenly starving and could really do with a late night bowl of cereal.

6. You check your phone and count up how many hours sleep you would get if you went asleep right now... Which usually results in 'shit I’m going to be so tired in the morning'.

Back to contemplating the ceiling….
