"Shots Shots Shots": What A Girls Drink Says About Her

You probably don't realize this on nights out, but the drink in a girls hand can tell you everything you need to know about her and how good your chances are of scoring with her. For your convenience, we've compiled the most common girls drinks and what they mean to you, the guys. Take notes now, you might not be able to see the words later tonight...

1) Long Island Iced Tea

A girl with this drink in her hand really, really wants to get drunk... but she doesn't want people to know she wants to get drunk so badly. This is for a girl who is out to party, with a paper thin facade of classiness that falls apart after one or two more iced teas. She might be a little stubborn or rude to advances at first, but those defenses will fall pretty quickly and her inner minx will come out to play.

2) Wine

If you take a girl to a bar and she's drinking wine, I've got good news for you, she is looking to impress, which means you are pretty much in there. Having said that, if you're just chatting a girl up at the bar, you may as well forget it. She's either there for a quiet drink with her friends, on a date already, or looking to pull an extremely rich and sophisticated gentleman. Which almost certainly isn't you. No offence.

3) Vodka

This drink doesn't tell you much about what a girl is actually like, but it does tell you what her plans are for the evening. She has one rule: her friends come first. So, while you might get a phone number, and maybe a little somewhere with conversation, she isn't likely to leave her friends to kiss you in the corner. That doesn't mean she wouldn't some other time, but it's not her main reason for being out tonight.

4) Cider

The cider drinkers are usually pretty quiet and reserved....usually.... to begin with anyway... You'll probably see them sipping quietly with some friends, not really going wild. They're out for a good time, and that could mean anything. They don't really care, as long as it's fun. Definitely worth trying to chat up too, because they're open to being impressed and will respond well to someone who isn't just screaming and dancing.

5) Rum and Coke

Like the Long Island Iced Tea, the rum and coke drinkers are out for a good time, and that involves getting very drunk. And they don't care who knows it either. The main difference between these and cocktail drinkers, is that they have a little bit more sense. They're not blowing all their money on cocktails at the start of the night, they're going to ease into it for the long haul. This means they aren't quite as easy to hook up with, but they're also less likely to get sick in your lap, so it's all good.

6) Beer

The girl who casually drinks a bottle of beer is not one you want to mess with. She drinks because (in her mind, at least) she's a hard worker and she's damn well earned that drink. They drink to relax rather than to party. They might be a little prickly if you try and chat them up, but mainly because talking to new people requires effort. They won't do it unless they're immediately interested. So if you get the cold shoulder to begin with, just give up straight away.

7) WKD/ Bacardi Breezer/ Smirnoff Ice

The girl drinking this is either too young for you, she's being ironic or she's found a way to get free WKDs. There is no other explanation, because no one would drink this if they knew there were other, better drinks out there. Also, 17-year-olds haven't discovered whiskey yet.

8) Tequila

Almost always preceded by a girl screaming "Let's do shots!!" Anyone drinking this wants to get hammered and does not give a fuck who knows it. She's in the mood to make bad decisions, so now isn't the time for smooth talk and sophisticated conversation. If you want to get in there, you only need to know how to grind and have a sexy smile.

9) Jager-Bomb

Jager-bombs are actually one of the most revealing drinks to see a girl having. It gets them drunk quickly, and it gets them hyper. They want to party! You'll almost never see a girl having one on her own. She'll be having one with at least one friend, probably many, which says a lot, they're wingmen for each other. She wants to get with someone tonight, but it's equally important that her friend(s) hook up as well. So if one girl in the group is looking miserable, you may as well shoot your chances with the others in the face.

10) Gin And Tonic

The 'ol G&T. Commonly associated with reserved, quiet and older women. Not far off the mark, in fact. The girl drinking a gin and tonic might be interesting to talk to, but she's not one for partying or dancing. Any attempts to hook up with her are unlikely, mainly because she feel superior. The only way you have a shot of hooking up with her is if you match her in wits and prove your sophistication. I.e. no grinding!

11) Whiskey

The whiskey drinkers are a fun bunch, once you get to know them. They are, in the most literal sense of the word, serious party people. They'll look down on anyone they think is acting stupid, so getting into their little circle can be pretty tough. Aside from liking the taste, they drink whiskey to show that, yeah, girls can drink this too, guys! Once you accept that, and show some respect, you'll find they're among the most fun people in the entire place.

12) Cosmopolitan

The girl who drinks a Gin and Tonic probably thinks she's better than you. The girl who drinks a Cosmo fucking knows she is. If she can afford to drink Cosmos for an entire night, she's either rich, naive, or has a bunch of guys wrapped around her little finger. Whatever the case, just steer clear because this is a no go area.

13) The Exact Same Drink As You

If you're at a house party and a girl happens to be drinking the same drink as you, it's probably because you both noticed it was the cheapest option. However, if you're out with a girl and she keeps ordering the same drink as you while chatting to you....well, do you really need me to point out the obvious? Stop reading this and maul the face off her!
