Things You Should Do Before You Go Back To College

So there's just over a month before you head back to college, queue feelings of both dread and excitement. It'll be good to get back into a routine and see your friends, but on the other hand, there's exams. So with that in mind, you should make the most of the little time you have left and do something productive. Here are the things you should do before you head back to college.

20) Go on a road trip

It's always better when it's not planned and you just go at a moments notice. If you drive , then it's better because you can choose where you go, but if one of your friends drives then just sit back, relax and come up with some sparkling conversation with maybe a few games thrown in. You learn a lot about where you live when you go on a road trip and you find places that you never even knew existed. Now is the time.

19) Do some hill walking

If you live beside a mountain, then you are lucky, but if not, get some friends together and go to the nearest one. You will get a real sense of achievement when you get to the top and the scenery is always good. It's better than staying home and watching Jeremy Kyle anyway and the long evenings won't last for too much longer.

18) Sleep-in

When you get back to college you will have a lot of earlier starts, so make the most of your time off. There is nothing to get up for so enjoy the time in bed and have a few guilt free duvet days if need be.

17) Learn some new dishes

If you'll be living in student accommodation when you're in college, it's a good idea to brush on some new dishes. Eating pot noodle all the time can get a bit bland, so mix things up an learn some new dishes for when you get back to college.

16) Go camping

We never truly appreciate what is around us these days, we seem to just forget about nature because we're too busy looking down. There is some wonderful scenery around us and there is no better way to reconnect to go camping. If you get only one thing out of it, it'll be that you will have a new appreciation for your own bed.

15) Get into a new tv series

I'm sure watching tv series is what most people do when they have time off from college, but find a random one that you never heard of and give it a go. You never know you might actually like it and you can tell all your friends to watch it when you go back into college.

14) Skinny Dipping

Weather permitting of course, you should head down to the beach or if you don't really have any good beaches near you, just head to the pier. You will have a new found appreciation for the sea after doing it, even if you might catch pneumonia in the process.

 13) Read an autobiography

It's a great way to learn about someone you're interested and you might realise that they may have taken one path and then completely changed it. It will give you a different outlook on college and you will see that we don't always end up where we think we will. Do it now before you have a million compulsory readings.

12) Have a BBQ

If the weather is good get some friends over, cook some grub and have a few beers. If you don't know how, get a friend to do it and learn from them, at least it's an excuse to get the barbecue out anyway.

11) Bond with your family

If you're living on campus, then now is the perfect time to reconnect with your family. You haven't seen them for a while so make  an effort to bond with them and you might be surprised at how much of a good time you have with them.

10) Go to a museum

Whether it's a history or art you should try and an become more cultured before you go back to college. Even if you're not that interested in that sort of stuff, it's something to do and you might actually learn a thing or two that will look impressive in the pub.

9) Head to the zoo

You might have only gone there when you were young, but it's good to go back and see all it has to offer. You will actually be able to see some of your favorite animals in the flesh rather than on the internet. Great day out for all involved.

8) Go to a free gig

If you're broke, there are always free gigs you can go to in your area. It's a chance to hear some new music and even it's terrible, at least you've ruled them out!

7) Unclutter your newsfeed

Now is the chance to make your newsfeed bearable, delete all those people that leave annoying statuses every day and unlike those pages you thought were hilarious a few months ago (everything bar College Times pretty much). It will pay off when you're back in college and you won't have those annoying distractions on your newsfeed, only the ones you want.

6) Update or create a Linkdin account

When you're in college, you don't really think about it as much, but you need to get your name out there for when you get out of college. If you don't have an account make one and if you do more than likely you need to update it. You probably made a basic account and never added to it, make it as detailed as possible.

5) Get some new clothes

Throw out all the clothes that are too small for you now or just really ugly. Buy some new clothes for going back to college and you won't regret it. Get a haircut , change up your style and you never know it might impress the person you had your eye on in college.

4) Learn a new skill

It might come in really handy when you go back to your student accommodation. Whether it's how to unclog a toilet or cheap meals you can make for yourself, it will come in handy when you get back into college.

3) Explore your area

You might not realise it, but your local area could have changed quite a bit since you have been gone. Have a walk around you area and you will find places that you used to always go to or ones you have never been to before. Either way it's always good to get to get to know where you came from that little bit better.

2) Meet up with old friends

When you go back at home, it's always good to meet up with those friends that you haven't seen for a while. Talk about old times and see what they're up to now. It's always good to look back on things before you head straight back to college.

1) Have one more night with your best friends

Before you head back to the hustle bustle of college life, it's important to have one more night out with your best friends. Odds are they are going back to college as well, so you won't nearly see them as much. Go out in a blaze of glory before you go back and hit the books.
