Guess Who Didn't Make The 10 Biggest Drinking Countries In The World!?

No, Ireland didn't make the cut and we're not sure if we're surprised.

Researchers Ipsos surveyed 38 countries to try and discover the country that had the biggest boozers by measuring the highest consumption of alcohol per person in one year.

Surprisingly Belgium, the last place we would've chosen, came first place. The Belgians have over 1500 beers to choose from, the nations favourite drink,  and your average person drinks 12.60 liters of alcohol a year. That's a whopping 6o pounds of alcohol a year - the same weight as your average punching bag. (I've definitely met people who could drink more than 12 liters of Guinness in one year - just sayin'!).

The top ten countries with the highest consumption of alcohol per person are:

  • Belgium
  • France
  • Germany
  • Hungary
  • Poland
  • Great Britain
  • Russia
  • Australia
  • Denmark
  • South Korea

Even though France produces massive amounts of the red and white stuff and Russia is keen on the vodka neither topped the list.

Maybe this list will squash the neverending stereotype of the drunken Irish man but they'll never take away the fact that we're great craic!
