Don't Be A Victim Of This Sneaky Penneys/Primark Scam!

You may have seen some people on your newsfeed or around social media who say they've won a £100 Primark voucher, but don't be fooled: it's too good to be true, sorry lads. The Primark scam has been around for a while now and it's catching shoppers out.

The post tells you to simply click on the link to get your coupon but those who click could get a virus or have their account hacked:

Inside the link, the promotion claims that Primark is giving away the coupons as part of their anniversary celebrations. You'd think if they were really doing that the Facebook post wouldn't be in a crappy font and they wouldn't make you go to a different URL i.e. 'www.primark.com-web.us'.

A spokesperson from Primark told the Daily Post: "We are aware that some fake adverts have been circulated on social media. We advise all our customers to ignore these posts and not to submit any personal information.”

If you have accidentally clicked on the scam, change your passwords immediately.

In future, look for these signs of a scam:

  • If it seems too good to be true, it probably is
  • 'Something for nothing' vouchers
  • Poor use of fonts
  • Grammatical errors
  • Strange URLs
  • Asking for private information
  • Non-secure site (no lock in the corner of browser)
  • Facebook pages purporting to be a company i.e. Primark but have a full stop after the name and only a few hundred likes

Stay safe kids!
