Popular Restaurant And Shop In Dublin Closed After Rat And Cockroach Infestation
The Food Safety Authority Of Ireland have announced they've had to issue temporary closure orders to several food outlets around Ireland.
These included the Spar located on Upper Baggot Street which was issued with a temporary closure notice due to 'significant rodent infestation'. This really just raises the question whether they have a definition for what differentiates a regular old 'rodent infestation' from a 'significant rodent infestation'. There were apparently a 'significant number of rat droppings found in the basement and some droppings found on shopfloor'.
As well as this a closure order was issued to Akash restaurant in Blackrock. The reason stated for the closure order were that there was an 'extensive cockroach infestation' in the kitchens. There were also live nymph and adult cockroaches as well as egg casings found around the kitchen.
In total there were 8 other closure orders issued, and in the two detailed above, they served their closure notices and made the appropriate changes, ie. stopped having 'significant' and 'extensive' infestations of vermin.
