Merrion Hotel Cancels Irish Right-Wing Nationalist Party Launch After Online Outrage

The Merrion Hotel has confirmed that they have cancelled the launch event for The National Party, which was due to take place this Thursday.

The new Irish party had scheduled a press conference in the Merrion for 3pm but the hotel has since confirmed to TheJournal.ie this afternoon that the event will no longer go ahead. Whether this cancellation was as result of the huge online reaction remains to be seen.

The party states that its priority concerns are opposing 'Extremist groups', defending the rights of 'The unborn'. They bill their party as 'That one party who will speak for the great silent majority who have seen the beginnings of "multiculturalism" with growing dismay.'

They criticise the 'Irish elite' of 'Value signalling' a term from the alt-right parlance that describes someone glibly expressing liberal values for kudos, and is often used to discredit criticism.

The opening address was supposed to be presented by Justin Barrett, president of the National Party and the former PRO of the Mother and Child Campaign that opposed the marriage equality campaign. He is also known for his pro-life stance and links to European neo-fascist groups.

The Merrion hotel had been criticised for allowing a group that espouses white nationalism to hold a conference on their premises.
