Gardai Think Kym Owens May Not Have Been Attacked
The Kym Owens incident has had many around Ireland stunned, after the 18-year-old was found unconscious near her student accommodation in Maynooth, Co Kildare on November 20.
Since then, there's been speculation on what happened to Kym that day and who may have been involved. But Gardai are now considering that there may not have been any attackers at all.
Recently we reported that three girls had been named as suspects in the sad case, but today Gardai are investigating whether the student actually had a very horrific fall instead.
Her injuries include two broken eye sockets, a fractured jaw, a broken nose and she lost several teeth.
Despite this hypothesis, Gardai said the incident is still being treated as a criminal investigation.
A source told the Irish Mirror: “Gardai reviewed medical reports that have only shown one blunt force trauma to head.
“The eye sockets, her jaw, nose and teeth injuries may have all resulted from just one blunt force trauma and that would be consistent with a fall.
“If she’d been attacked there might have been more than one trauma.
"It has to be taken into account.
“ However, Gardai are still looking at this like a criminal investigation.”
Kym is still fighting for her life in James Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown.
