Tragedy As Irish Teenager Killed In Moped Crash In Lanzarote

An Irish teenager has tragically died following a moped crash in Lanzarote.

It is believed that Stephen O’Gara, from Augherine, Ballaghaderreen in Co Roscommon, was killed after his moped collided with a car in the early hours of Saturday. It is understood that the teenager had been holidaying on the Canary island with his family.

It is reported that his relatives were not in the immediate vicinity of the area when the crash happened.

Speaking to the Irish Mirror, Fine Gael Senator John O’Mahony said:

It’s a huge tragedy for a family that were getting a break on holidays.

Everyone’s sympathy goes out to all of the family. The difficulty with something like this is it’s away from home.

It’s a terrible time and our thoughts and prayers go out to everybody.

It is believed that relatives have travelled to Lanzarote to be with Stephen's mother and other family members.
