Lindsay Lohan Faces Backlash After Saying #MeToo Movement Makes Women 'Look Weak'

Lindsay Lohan has become a controversial figure in recent years and after what seemed like a quiet period free of Lohan drama, the 32-year-old actress has turned another murky corner in the public eye.

Lohan, who is reportedly worth €500,000, was being interviewed by The Sunday Times when she made questionable comments about the Me Too movement. Understanding she was approaching a difficult subject, Lohan continued to speak her mind on women who share their sexual assault stories:

I’m going to really hate myself for saying this, but I think by women speaking against all these things, it makes them look weak when they are very strong women.

Although the actress noted that was never in a situation like the women of the MeToo movement, she felt supportive of women who spoke at the time of their assault:

I don’t really have anything to say. I can’t speak on something I didn’t live, right? Look, I am very supportive of women. Everyone goes through their own experiences in their own ways. If it happens at that moment, you discuss it at that moment. You make it a real thing by making it a police report...You have these girls who come out, who don’t even know who they are, who do it for the attention. That is taking away from the fact that it happened.

Lohan was under fire previously for posting a now-deleted Instagram story that sympathised with Weinstein, saying: "I feel very bad for Harvey Weinstein right now. I don't think it's right what's going on"

Weinstein was at the center of the Me Too controversy after a number of actresses claimed he sexually assaulted and harassed them back in October. The actress, who refers to herself as an activist on her Twitter bio, has disappointed fans by making the dismissive comments:

The actress is currently promoting her new reality show with MTV.
