Met Eireann Issue The Best Kind Of Weather Warning For Longitude

Today the annual Longitude festival starts and it looks set to one of the nicest weekends of year so far.

Marlay Parks gates open at 1:30 and the first headliner light up the main stage is Stormzy, Saturday will see The Weekend take over and Mumford & Sons will close out the weekend on Sunday night.

Here's the full line-up of acts and a timetable for you to catch all your favourites this weekend:

The weather for today looks set to be full of sunny spells in the evening with cloudy spells throughout the day. Tomorrow promises to be a hot and humid day with temperatures expected to rise up to 24 degrees. Sunday is set to be the sunniest day at Marlay.

A Met Eireann spokeswoman told The Sun said: “Gig goers should definitely bring sun tan lotion as we believe the sun burn index will be high".

A festival insider said: “This is probably the biggest Longitude ever. We’re slightly bigger than last year. We’re delighted that the forecast is dry and so warm.”

Although the weekend is set to be a fun and memorable experience jam packed with music, the festival has created a number of rules that festival goers should take note of before arriving at Marlay Park:

  •  Backpacks are completely banned and there are no cloakroom or storage facilities at the festival.
  • Any item that is considered a weapon by security will be confiscated.
  • There will be a strict no alcohol policy on all public transport and private buses travelling to Longitude.
  • Promoters are warning: “not to arrive at the event intoxicated as they will not be permitted entry”.
  • Fans of the festival will need to give themselves plenty of time to get into the event due to the various festival entry procedures, ticket checks and searches.
  • There will be no re-admission for single day ticket holders.

Promoters are recommending festival goers download the Longitude app to get the full details for this weekend.
