MyTaxi Is Rebranding Yet Again. Soon It Will Be FREE NOW

Just when we start to get used to referring to Hailo as MyTaxi, they have decided to change the name and rebrand yet again. This will be the second rebranding in two years for the popular taxi app. The new name that we will all have to adjust to will be "FREE NOW". Before you ask "FREE NOW' is not tied into a concept of free taxies. Oh, wouldn't that be great! The name change is as a result of MyTaxis majority shareholder Daimler joining forces with BMW.

In a statement regarding this rebranding, MyTaxi said the following:

We’re always working hard to give people the freedom to move around cities as easily as possible. We’re excited for the next step of the mytaxi journey as we change our name to FREE NOW later this year.

As we continue to grow across Europe, it’s important that we are consistent, recognisable and offer the best experience possible to all our passengers, no matter where you hail from! You can now use our app in 9 countries and over 100 cities across Europe and we’re constantly expanding.

A slight contraction there, they want to be seen as "consistent" and "recognisable" yet they rebrand twice in two years. It's a bit of a headscratcher. Also "FREE NOW" all in caps, why are they shouting?

This latest name change is set to come into effect later this year. An email will be sent out to users of the app prior to the change and the change itself can be made with a simple app update. My Taxi has assured users that the service and drivers will all remain the same.
