Here's All The Paddy's Day Public Transport Deets You Need

Paddy's Day is great for some (read: tourists) but for the rest of us who just want to have a normal Friday, it can be a headache. There'll be road closures, limited public transport options and a whole lot of confusion. So to make it a bit easier, we've got everything you need to have a smooth long weekend. Here's Paddy's Day buses, trains and Luas changes:

Dublin Bus

There'll be heaps of diversions in place on the 16th, 17th and 18th of March, and for most routes the main thing that will change is that on Paddy's Day, a Sunday timetable will be used instead of the normal Friday one.

Here's a list of diversions for the St Patrick's Festival on the Dublin Bus website 'cause tbh, there's far too many to list.

You'll also be able to get the Nitelink on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights - deets here.

Luas

There'll be a few disruptions to the Red Line and some delays on the Green line during St Patrick's Day.

Red Line

Trams will operate between Smithfield and Tallaght/Saggart from approximately 10.30am to 2.30pm to accommodate the parade. First tram is at 7.00am. Last tram from the city centre to Saggart is at 10.50pm and last tram to Tallaght is at 11.30pm.

Green Line

First tram is at 7.00am. Last tram from the Brides Glen to St. Stephen’s Green is at 11.00pm and last tram from St. Stephen’s Green to Brides Glen is at 11.30pm.

Irish Rail

Extra DARTs will operate before and after St Patrick's Day Parade - here's what else has been changed:

17th March - St Patrick's Day

Intercity services will operate a Friday schedule with alterations. Full details in this St Patrick's Day timetable.

DART services will operate a Sunday schedule, but with extra DARTs operating before and after the St Patrick's Day Parade.

Commuter services will operate on a Sunday schedule with minor alterations.

Tara Street station will also be closed until 4pm on St Patrick's Day - so use Connolly or Pearse stations instead.

18th March

A normal Saturday service will operate across all routes, with the following changes:

Extra DART and Commuter services will operate for the Six Nations Ireland v England match at the Aviva Stadium (5pm). Trains will not serve Grand Canal Dock between 6:05pm and 7.35pm.

Intercity alterations are in place for the Six Nations match with the 7:05pm Dublin Connolly to Sligo deferred to 8.05pm and the 7.35pm Dublin Heuston to Galway is deferred to 8:10pm.

19th March

A normal Sunday service will operate across all routes, with extra DART services to and from Howth for the Dublin Bay Prawn Festival.
