Status Orange Weather Warning – Things Are About To Get Floody Awful In Cork And Kerry

Uh oh.

If you're from the west of the country, well, we hope you weren't planning a trip home over the next few days.

Met Éireann has issued a Status Orange rainfall warning in Kerry, in anticipation of severe flooding, as well as a yellow warning for Galway, Mayo, Clare and Cork.

The rainfall has already kicked off in the Kingdom, and is expected to last for most of the week. Just take a look at this pic from Portmagee, taken today, to see just how bad things really are...

The update on the website reads:

Update on previous warning. After the torrential rain of the last 36 hours, further heavy rain is expected for a time today, leading to some further flooding. Further totals of 30 to 40mm are likely, with the highest values expected in coastal and mountainous areas.

Yikes!

Let's just all hide out in the pub, yeah?
