Thieves Escape With Over €50,000 Worth Of Chocolate

Some people can admit to having a sweet tooth or being a chocoholic. But these thieves have really taken the biscuit (or in this case the chocolate) with this heist.

Thieves in Germany stole a refrigerated trailer containing more 20 tons of chocolate goodies last weekend according to Sky News. The stolen chocolate trailer contained 20 tons of Nutella, Kinder Surprise eggs and Valparaiso chocolate fruit pearls according to the article. The trailer was stolen in the town of Neustadt in the south-west of the country. The contents of the trailer were worth between €50,000 and €70,000.

Sky News reports that a police statement to German newspaper Deutsche Welle stated: "Anyone offered large quantities of chocolate via unconventional channels should report it to the police immediately".

Police spokesman Martin Ahlich added "It's not even clear if they were after the sweets or after the trailer at this point we don't know what their motive was," according to the article.

Sky News also reported another trailer containing 30 tons of fruit juice was stolen last weekend in Wittenberg in northern Germany.
