5 Dublin Hotspots You Need To Check Out This Summer

It's fast approaching summertime (if someone wanted to tell Ireland that, that would be great), and there are quite a lot of us staying put in the emerald isle for the summer months. But there is no need to panic just yet. There are quite a few places you can, and should, check out in Dublin that will perk your days up in no time. Here are our top 5 suggestions for where you need to check out this summer.

1. The Gibson Hotel

If you haven't been to the Gibson Hotel already then you really have to ask yourself, what are you doing with your life? This gorgeous hotel might look familiar to some of you- it's home to the ever so popular show First Dates. Located at The Point Village, right across the the 3Arena and right beside the luas line, this is the perfect place to go if you're looking for a weekend getaway or even just a nice bar to go to where you can relax with a drink on the ultra swanky balcony. They also have great deals on, with their great escapes package being an absolute bargain. This is one place you definitely want to check out.

2. Bunsen

This burger joint garnered a lot of attention when it first opened up in 2013 and for good reason. Three years on, and three locations under their belt in Dublin, there's a reason Bunsen has become a burger institution for the city. With a menu that boasts a 'less is more' option, and quality meat that melts in your mouth, you would be a fool to not try out their burgers this summer.

3. Pyg

There is nothing better than catching an Indian Summer (because let's face it, an 'Irish Summer' just does not exist) in the middle of the city. After a long days work (shopping), you can't beat a good smoking area, nice tunes, great food and even better drinks. Pyg has got it all. Their 2 for €14 cocktail deals and 40% off all drinks on a Sunday make it the perfect place to dine chic but cheap. It's also a fantastic place to creep on the large crowds that pass by you on Coppinger Row. What more could you want?!

4. Aungier Danger

If you were to ask any Dubliner at the moment where you should go for a doughnut, I would be positive that Aungier Danger would be the first place to roll off their tongue. It's actually quite hard to believe that this place hasn't even been open a year yet! It's the home to the iconic doughnuts; The Banoffee Autopsy, The Dublin Deathtrap and The Crime Scene, to name but a few. And now for summer, they've decided to turn it up a notch, creating Dublin's very first ice-cream doughnut, The Danger Cone. This unreal dessert is made up of a red velvet cone, filled with white Belgian chocolate, vanilla ice-cream and topped with their very own strawberry sauce and grated red velvet. Yeah, we thought you'd be interested. You're welcome.

5. Longitude

This festival is one of the most highly anticipated events of the year, and I think it's fair to say, they have outdone themselves this year. With a cracking lineup including Kendrick Lamar, Major Lazer, The National, Jamie XX and Tyler, The Creator, this year is one you don't want to miss. Along with a kick-ass lineup, there's also going to be amazing bars, and fantastic food from the likes of Saba and GBK. Tickets are still on sale and you can find them here!
