Life 101

High Maintenance Vs. Low Maintenance Girls

Think of The Devil Wears Prada, Confessions of A Shopaholic, Elle Woods from Legally Blonde - all very high maintenance. Now, think of Cady from Mean Girls (before she turned mean) and Kristen Stewart. See the difference? Some people call high maintenance girls bitchy and low maintenance girls lazy, but that's utter shite. They both just have different views on life (nut I wish the guy that gets into a relationship with a high-maintenance girl good luck because that's going to be shit).

Personality

All eyes always turn to the high maintenance girl when they walk into a room because they are always done up to the nines. A perfectionist in their own eyes, whereas everyone else thinks they're ridiculous. They are always silently judging but only because they're scared of a little competition. They and their high maintenance friends are constantly around or causing drama. Every teeny tiny inconvenience becomes a crisis to them. But don't get me wrong, high maintenance doesn't mean they're not a nice person. I'm sure they're lovely... ish.

They don't want or demand attention so can go into super stealth mode and not be noticed. They aren't even on the perfectionist scale, "ah it'll do". They don't want to be judged so they won't be judging anyone else. They aren't picky and will just go along with whatever comes. They don't get into any gossip or drama because that's not how they roll.

Hair

High maintenance girls will always have their hair highlighted, coloured (not one sign of a root) and quaffed perfectly every day. They will have an assortment of shampoos, conditioners and scrubs in their shower and will apply oils and sprays when drying it...and it'll look freaking amazing all the time. Not jealous, not one bit.

Low maintenance girls just shrug off a bad haircut and if they're having a bad hair day they'll just put it up into a bun or ponytail. They never blow-dry, straighten or curl their hair - sure air drying is fine. Messy hair, don't care.

Clothes

High maintenance girls only shop in designer shops and will never repeat an outfit on a night out. They take over an hour to be anywhere near ready. They will buy the "worn" look jeans instead of wearing old ones.

Low maintenance girls have a mini panic attack about even the thought of going into designer shops. Penneys all the way! Their pyjama's consist of baggy and ratty old tops and mismatched bottoms. They can get dressed in under 10 minutes. Old worn jeans are their style.

Nails

High maintenance girls will always have their nails manicured.

Low maintenance girls' version of a manicure is trimmed nails and chipped nail varnish.

Makeup

High maintenance girls always have a perfect face of makeup, contoured, highlighted and perfect eye shadow to match their outfit.

Low maintenance girls - every day is No Makeup Monday. And if they do put makeup on, it's normally only eyeliner.

Nightlife

High maintenance girls will always go to the hottest new club with its swanky chandeliers. Cosmos for the night. Fine dining is the only way to dine - according to them.

Low maintenance girls would rather spend their night chilling at home with Netflix. Fancy events mean wearing your nicest skirt with converse. Beer is their go-to drink. Nando's is perfect.

Relationships

High maintenance girls have high standards - you've been warned. They have a check-list for their potential boyfriend (then spouse). They have their life planned out, "married by 28, two kids by 33, in a house with a white picket fence" all they bollocks. They also have a wedding Pinterest board full of possible napkin colours and cake flavours. Good luck with that.

Low maintenance girls they have their preferences, just like everyone else but no life plan. They go with the flow and won't break their fellas bank account with all this "fine dining" shit.
