DIT President Forced To Show Report Over Lost €700,000

DIT's President Professor Brian Norton has been ordered by the college's governing body to bring forward an unpublished report which criticises its senior management.

This Thursday, DIT as well as other third-level institutions, will have to appear before the Dáil’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) discussing if they misled TDs over the way they run their own respective colleges.

TDs have accused the DIT President of not showing a report which explains the loss of €700,000 in payments to an academic journal provider which went bankrupt. The report which was done by the tax consultants at Ernst and Young, was never shown to PAC.

What the President provided was a "management review" which didn't include the references to criticism of senior management at DIT. DIT's governing body have demanded that Professor Norton shows the unpublished report directly to the committee.

Prof Norton will also be expected to apologise for the delay and also include extracts from board meetings held that criticises the members of senior management. Over the last three years a whopping €29.5 million has not been properly checked. Prof Norton has made a statement saying that he provided the PAC with the documents over the last few weeks.
