UCD SU Announce Date For New Presidential Election

UCD SU Announce Date For New Presidential Election

UCD's Students' Union will hold a by-election on 22-23 November for a new president, in the wake of Katie Ascough's impeachment.

Nominations for the role will have to be in by Thursday 9 November, with candidates required to present their nomination forms, signed by 150 Union members, along with a €100 deposit by 6pm.*

Former president, Katie Ascough was ousted from her position in last week's historic referendum, which had the largest turnout for any UCD election ever, and it will be interesting if the new found political interest among students carries through to this election.

The SU also announced class rep by-election dates, with the closing date for nominations being this Thursday, 2 November, ahead of the vote on 9 November. Those seeking a nomination in either election or indeed if anyone is just interested in finding out more about how the process works, can get more information on UCDSU's website here.

Editor's note: Just a quick reminder - in light of recent events - the nomination forms require 'signatures', not just names, people! ;)
