A New Netflix Horror Has A 100% Rating On Rotten Tomatoes

As the fearsome Storm Emma and the Beast from the East collide outside it's truly a day for Netflix and the sofa. If you fancy taking your mind off what's happening outside then check out the latest horror flick that's gotten a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Veronica is a Spanish-language horror film from 2017 that is receiving rave reviews after appearing on Netflix on Monday. It's set in Madrid in the 90s and tells the story of a young girl who has to raise her younger siblings in the absence of her parents - her father is dead and her mother is overworked. Veronica and her mates try out a Ouija board during a solar eclipse, for whatever reason, and summon the spirit of a dead friend, disturb her fathers' spirit and summon a demonic force.

The film is directed by Paco Plaza who'll be familiar to horror fans who have seen the REC franchise. Worryingly, the film is based on a true story from Madrid's police files in the early 1990s and premiered last year at the Toronto International Film Festival to rave reviews. Fans have been comparing it to other scares like The Exorcism of Emily Rose:

Other independent horror movies that have become recent classic thanks to Netflix include Hush, Creep, Gerald's Game and 1922. Check out the full trailer for what's being called the scariest movie of the year:
