Ed Sheeran Sticks To His Irish Roots With Announcement of Dublin Support Acts

Ed Sheeran sticks to his Irish roots with the announcement of his Dublin and European shows. Excitingly one of the support acts is an unsigned Irish singer from County Down whose name is Ryan McMullan. Ed is no stranger to recruiting Irish talents for his shows as he previously had Gavin James as a support act for his Croke Park dates. The acclaimed singer is as Irish as they come with his grandparents coming from Gorey, Wexford, he's best mates with Niall Horan and he used to busk on the streets of Galway. Traditional Irish band Beoga also feature on Sheeran's new album ÷ . Here's some details on both support acts:

Ryan McMullan

Ryan told RTÉ Entertainment that  "The news came to me this morning (Tuesday) along with everyone else. I woke up, went for a shower and came back in to the room to find my phone flashing like a strobe light...I mean he's the biggest star on the planet right now, so having his backing is incredible". McMullan met Ed Sheeran in the UK after Sheeran saw him supporting Foy Vance at Shepherds Bush.  Ryan shared the news on Facebook to the delight of his fans. We'd be sharing this on everything too Ryan. The acoustic unsigned artist does several brilliant covers that can be found on Youtube. His voice is incredible and we can see why Ed wanted to bring him on tour. His EP is on Spotify and it's called A Winter's Coat.

Other support act: Anne Marie

Anne Marie is a solo artist from London who was up for a Brit award for Best British Breakthrough Act but lost out to Rag N' Bones.  Her song with Clean Bandit and Sean Paul - "Rockabye"-  topped the charts in over 20 countries and was a UK number 1. Anne Maries' song "Alarm" has over a 100 million streams on Spotify.

We here at Collegetimes love the support Ed Sheeran's showing to unsigned/ Irish acts. The tour starts in March in Italy and comes to Dublin on the 12th and 13th of April. Keep up the good work Ed and best of luck Ryan!
