Everything You Need To Know About The Future Of Love Island

The concept of 'marooning' for whatever reason has become a popular trope of reality television shows, from I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here to Survivor and The Island with Bear Grylls. For 17th century sailors, it was their worst nightmare, for 21st century fame hungry reality television stars, it is their bread and butter, and there is no show which capitalises more on this concept than Love Island.

The third series of Love Island, the show where some 30 excessively preened singletons are shipped onto an island and then tasked with coupling up and humping their way to victory and thus, freedom, came to end last night. The winning couple were Kem Cetinay and Amber Davies, leaving Camilla Thurlow and Jamie Jewitt as runners-up.

When Kem Cetinay, the 21 year old Essex hairdresser was asked if he would like to split the £50k prize money with Amber, his island based girlfriend, he agreed that he would, saying “I've found my future wife!”

Though what next for the future of Love Island? In the wake of the success of the third series, which far surpassed the previous two series in terms of popularity, ITV confirmed that the show would be renewed for a fourth series. Though viewers will have to wait another year for their next fix of watching fame-hungry reality television contestants do the nasty while stranded in a villa. There are even already rumours that Kem & Amber could be making a return to the show in some capacity next season.

However, perhaps the true star of this season has been the second villa, Casa Amor, which had been introduced to the show. This literal 'love shack' has no doubt born witness to far too many unspeakable acts over the course of the series. Though alas, it appears that the beloved Casa Amor's time with the show will remain all too brief as it has been put up for sale after, one can only imagine, having been thoroughly gone over with industrial strength cleaning equipment.

There was also some inexplicable outrage last night during the final show as viewers vociferously complained on the social media channel of their choosing at the sheer nerve of Caroline Flack to wear what can only be described as 'a dress'. Viewers were left aghast at the obscene nature of the carefully assembled fabric that she had chosen to wear.

It's reassuring that in such a politically tumultuous world we can rest safe in the knowledge that the Twitterati have their priorities well and truly straight.
