Rich Kids Are Starving And Stranded At Ja Rule's Bahamas Music Festival And It's Seriously Insane

I never thought I'd be writing something like this but stay with me: hundreds, maybe even thousands of rich kids are stuck on an island in the Bahamas with scraps of food and wild dogs, surrounded by a dystopian wasteland. Is this the best prank of all time? Perhaps. Basically Ja Rule, aka the early 00s lord of RnB, convinced punters to pay between $4000 and $12,000 USD for tickets to Fyre Festival, a unique, luxurious glamping festival in the Bahamas.

But these beautiful, stupidly rich people had no idea what would await when they stepped off the plane overnight. Instead of posh glamping tents, they were faced with tents you'd see in a refugee camp:

Fyre Festival was billed as "a cultural moment created from a blend of music, art, and food ... in the Exumas from April 28 – 30 and May 5 – 7, 2017"

The ticket price includes a "roundtrip on a custom, VIP configured Boeing 737 aircraft between Miami International Airport and Exuma International Airport on Great Exuma".

But it probably doesn't include mass panic:

Or food your mam would spit on:

Even Blink 182 had the foresight to bail on this shitshow before it even started:

There's even a 'Fyre Festival Fraud' account on Twitter with gems like these:

It seems like days before the festival started, people were cottoning on to some serious deception:

It gets even crazier - apparently there's rampant theft going on and now the US Embassy in Nassau have had to provide consular assistance to festival goers:

Organisers issued a statement on their Instagram and really delightfully labelled it as 'growing pains'

Some are comparing the situation to Hunger Games meets the Rich Kids of Instagram. Here's hoping the people at Fyre Festival remember to live it up:

Too soon?
