Rejoice! Absolutely Massive News For Any Fans Of 'How I Met Your Mother'

After endless up and downs and will they won't they, fans are finally getting closer to that How I Met Your Mother spin off they've been waiting for.

According to Deadline, Fox chairman Dana Walden revealed that a How I Met Your Mother spinoff is in the works right now, but it might not be called How I Met Your Father.

The spin off, How I Met Your Dad, was meant to happen in 2013, but CBS canceled on the spin off. Creators of the drama This Is Us reworked a pilot for a spinoff called How I Met Your Father but This Is Us was a success and Father  was abandoned.

Fox is hoping its third time lucky for the spin off as a new team of writers is already working on the spinoff. Walden revealed that the spinoff may not be the gender-swapped story most fans were expecting:

The studio will try (developing a spinoff) with different writers. They will be starting from scratch… It's one that's been slowly cooked. If it's the right idea the right execution, we'll take that.

Don't be dismayed, a reworking of the original spin off could mean a reunion of the How I Met Your Mother cast as the first two spin offs did not include characters from HIMYM. The final episode of HIMYM, 'Last Forever', received mixed reviews from fans who weren't happy with the final twist, no spoilers, and Ted and Robin's relationship. A spin off could answer a lot of questions.

We are praying for an original cast spinoff with characters like Barney, Marshall, and Lily. Here's hoping for a 2018 release.
