Don't Hate Me Cos You Ain't Me: How To Handle The Haters

Haters gonna hate. No matter what you do or how well you do it, there will always be at least one person who wants to bring you down. So it's best to know how to deal with it. Maybe they're jealous of your success or simply unhappy with their lives, and the only way they can deal with it is by making you feel the pain that they're feeling. They look for the smallest mistakes, focus in and attack, without acknowledging the good parts. There may be no sense as to why they are hating on you, but it's not fun for you. Here are some ways to deal with the hate. Don't forget that you did something positive, you're awesome. They are the ones that need to sort their shit out.
1) Ignore Them
I know it's not the easiest, but try to ignore them and rise above the hate. You don't need to lower yourself to their level. You won't always be able to do this, but try at least. You can always bitch about them to your friends in order to vent.
2) Do Not Apologise
They have an option of experiencing something that you create, something that may not be for them. They can ignore you. So don't feel the need to apologise for them being offended by what you are doing. If it bothers them, they can go distract themselves with Netflix.
3) Feel Bad For Them
Putting other people down is the only way they can feel good about themselves. They are projecting their own unhappiness onto you and your accomplishments or work. You can either let what they say affect you negatively, like by crying, or you can realise that they are living a life that causes them pain and all that you can do is feel bad for them.
4) Accept Their Opinion
You're never going to be able to agree with everyone all the time. Accept that everyone has different opinions and it's the people that will not accept that that are usually the haters. You can't please everyone and as soon as you accept that, you can move on with your life. Don't get hung up on one person's opinion.
5) Agree
If you can't beat them, join them. Even if you don't agree with what they are saying, because chances are they aren't right. Agreeing with a bully totally deflates their anger and their need for a fight. All they really want is a fight, and if you don't give them that, then they have nothing.
6) Kill Them With Kindness
Thank them for sharing their opinion with you and tell them that it's heartening to see that they are so confident in their own opinions to voice them to you. Especially if you don't know each other that well and they are hating on you hard.
7) Imagine Them In A Mortifying Or Ridiculous Way
People say that when you're speaking publicly to imagine the audience naked. That just makes me feel more uncomfortable. If you're experiencing hatred to an extreme degree, imagine them as a pug, totally adorable and ridiculous, even better, now imagine that they can speak. Or imagine them wearing tight white pants and having horrible diarrhoea. That should do it.
8) Dub What They Say
In your mind, pretend they are actually blurting fart noises, or speaking a foreign language that they don't even understand. Or dub the lines from a favourite movie of yours into what they are actually saying. A lot more enjoyable for you and they can blurt out whatever they want.
9) Haters Gonna Hate
Do like Taylor Swift and shake it off. You feel crap now but pick yourself up and move on. You did something, so what if someone else didn't like it, plenty of others will like it. Forget the haters.
