There's A New Coppers In A Seriously Bizarre Location

We've heard it all now. Do you know someone who's planning a move to Oz but can't cope with missing a weekend in Coppers? Well, their prayers have been answered as there's now a Brisbane Copper Face Jacks ....yes that's in Australia.

Located in West End in the country's third largest city, this place is a mecca for Irish abroad. Although it's more of a restaurant and pub, it still offers Dublin Copper's regulars all the goods.

We asked co-owner Brendan Luddy if there was any connection to the OG Coppers in Dublin and sadly, not really.

"There is no connection with us and the bar in Dublin. We do have a good following of Irish here and people do mention their fond memories of Copper Face Jacks in Dublin from time to time", he said.

"Copperface Jacks is West End’s newest local – the venue with its mix of four bars cleverly bridges the divide between old and new, heritage and modern, eclectic and luxury.

"We opened in the last week of September last year and it's showing early signs of being an institution just like the one in Dublin".

We are delighted to learn it was opened by 3 Irish expats: Brendan from Cork, Michael Walsh from Kilkenny and his wife Aisling from Tipperary.

Well, it does sound a bit different from the national anthem singing, GAA-jersey-wearing crowd Dublin Coppers produces, but it's Coppers all the same. The only difference is probably the fancy cocktails, the actual nice live music and decent food menu.

I don't think anywhere else could really reproduce the unique place that is Coppers, but at least they tried, eh?
