Facebook's Big Change Means You Might See More Of What You Actually Want

Most of us joined Facebook to have a nosy on what our friends and acquaintances are up to. In recent years though, we were seeing less 'people' updates and more content related posts, like news articles and videos etc.

Scrolled through your news feed lately? You may not have noticed but Facebook have introduced a massive new change.

In short, they've prioritised what family and friends have to say, meaning we'll gradually start to see less updates from brands and media outlets and more posts from our nearest, dearest and the 'I'm friends with them on Facebook' people (you don't personally know them but somehow ended up scrolling through their 97 Croatia photos from summer 2011).

Mark Zuckerberg posted news of the changes on the social media platform last Thursday, commenting that Facebook's essentially about helping people connecting with each other.

"We feel a responsibility to make sure our services aren’t just fun to use, but also good for people's well-being," he said.

"We're making a major change to how we build Facebook. I'm changing the goal I give our product teams from focusing on helping you find relevant content to helping you have more meaningful social interactions."

If you prefer to choose what you see more of, the news feed tab on Facebook provides options which will allow users to prioritise the friends, and pages, whose posts they're interested in most.

So ya know if you do get sick of your cousin posting 200+ photos of her baby playing with a spoon, don't fear.
