Irish Rail Staff Are Striking For 5 Days In November And December

Just as we were getting over Storm Ophelia, Irish Rail is set to go on strike during two of the busiest and coldest months of the year.

Staff at Irish Rail are set to take industrial action after pay talks at the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) collapsed last night.  The union released five 24-hour stoppages that are set to take place from November to December  8.

The dates for the strike are as follows:

  • Wednesday 1 November
  • Tuesday 7 November
  • Tuesday 14 November
  • Thursday 23 November
  • Friday 8 December

The trade union has shared that they will conduct reviews on the situation on an ongoing basis and "may decide to escalate the action by way of increased frequency and duration”. 84% of Irish Rail members voted in favour of industrial action.

More dates and details are set to follow.
