Roof Collapses In Dublin School After Major Fire This Morning

A large fire has resulted in significant damage to a major school in Dublin's Coolock.

The fire at Scoil Chaitriona GNS - situated off the Malahide Road in Coolock - was first reported to the Dublin Fire Brigade just after 6am this morning.

Thankfully, given that the fire began in the early morning, there was nobody at the school and there have consequently been no reports of any injuries. One person has however been taken to hospital as a precaution to deal with smoke inhalation.

Local residents are being advised to stay indoors and to keep their windows closed to prevent any complications from smoke inhalation.

The roof of the school seems to have suffered extensive damage, and it will undoubtedly take some time to fully assess the scope of the damage sustained by the rest of the building.

Joe McHugh, the Minister for Eduaction has stated that they will be working with the school in order to see how the students can be accommodated until such a time as the school is usable again.
