SuperValu Customers Are Being Warned About A Whatsapp Scam

Another day, another scam alert. Irish Whatsapp users are being warned of a SuperValu scam doing the rounds today. On Tuesday the supermarket chain posted on Facebook to warn customers against opening unendorsed Whatsapp messages from the company disguised as deals:

The scam message is encouraging Whatsapp users to click a link to a web page and provide personal details in order to receive SuperValu vouchers. The chain has not endorsed or promoted the circulating message.

Facebook users commented under SuperValu's Facebook post concerned, many had already opened the message. Some users are receiving this scam message from friends or family Whatsapp accounts. SuperValu is recommending customers contact the Commission for Communications regulation if they have opened the message:

 ...we would recommend that you contact the Commission for Communications Regulation (ComReg). Their phone number is 018049668and their email is consumerline@comreg.ie...

Targeted Whatsapp users are being advised to delete the message and not open the link.
